Comments on Level 2 implementation measures for the EU's Market Abuse Directive

The London Stock Exchange has provided comments to the European Commission on Working Document ESC 38/2003 on the proposed Level 2 implementation measures for the Market Abuse Directive.

The Market Abuse Directive is designed to increase standards for market integrity in the securities field throughout the EU.  The initiative is one of the centre pieces of the Financial Services Action Plan, and the drive to create an integrated financial services market across the EU.

We welcome Commission's informal consultation of market participants prior to the formal release of drafting implementing measures and are pleased that the majority of the Commission's recommendations reflect the results of CESR's consultation process. For further information, contact the Exchange's Regulatory Strategy Department on +44 (0)20 7797 4437.
